Horsedrawn round baler
I had to make a trip to PA a few years ago to review some modifications to one of our machines for warranty purposes. The baler has a V465D Wisconsin power unit with clutch and 540 rpm reduction gear. It has a hyd pump and valve for opening and closing the tailgate as well. Not only was the conversion ingenious, but the 3 Belgians attached to the front were very smart. (I was there when he backed the rig into the barn---they sidestepped at little more than a whisper)

Watched a probably RFD TV program several years ago on horse drawn, PTO powered farm equipment. One device converted power from ground driven wheels to PTO, similar to ground driven fore carts in the above advertisements.

Re: Horsedrawn round baler
I was able to watch him make a few bales as well. As soon as the engine started, the horses were ready. When the PTO engaged, they were off.
(they knew) As the engine started to labor with a full bale, they slowed. (as you would with a tractor) After the bale was tied, ejected, and they heard the tailgate close they were gone. (and don't be standing in front of them) What my grandpa wouldn't have given for a team like those.
Good day...........

Pioneer Equipment, Inc. makes a 4-wheel forecart that has a 116 HP Deutz air-cooled diesel engine that has PTO, hydraulics and hydraulic 4-wheel steering --- all for ~$20,000.

Re: Horsedrawn round baler
Here's two of the three that were used. I think maybe the third was in training, as it wasn't fully connected. The young man had just purchased this farm and apologized that he didn't have the electric removed from his milking parlor yet. I was in awe...

I couldn't find a round baler but I do find the pto carts interesting.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

That is a ground drive forecart, note the tires are mounted to provide the power, similar to how ground driven manure spreaders are powered. Also there isn't an engine on the forecart.

I couldn't find a video of the engine driven cart when I was looking either?

Re: Horsedrawn round baler
I certainly enjoyed the video of the fore cart and team. Boy they did a nice job with that baler. I love to see the teams working - so few of them left around here.

Here is a pic of the heavy duty Deutz diesel powered forecart from the 2013 Pioneer catalog.
