I was out in Pa near allentown picking up a one arm loader. Spotted and couple tractors and implements for sale on the side of the road and stopped to have a look see. The guy had picked up a cub with sickle bar mower, dirt plow, snowplow, planter. He sold the cub w/the sickle and had the other stuff for sale. He claimed it was a rare cub planter. The numbers I took off it are 1720101-0. It's ground driven off presser wheel and maybe connects to reversed drawbar and raised and lowered by arms for cultivators. Any info on this planter? here's a photo.
Thanks, Kirk

Re: cub corn planter
I am wondering if it is part of a Cub 201 planter? this was a two row rear mounted unit. I am sure if you look in Rudi's manual site it will show up.

Here is the manual for the 201. Can't tell if it is a 201, from this photo - looks some parts are missing....?

Re: cub corn planter
It looks similar to the 201 but doesn't look like it was hacked up from a 201 two row. It looks like it's lifted in the same manner as the 201. It's missing both hoopers which he has inside and the seed tubes and row markers. I don't know what's else is suppose to be on it so there could be more missing.

Looks to me like a 184. It would help to see the front. It would be tough to come up with something that looks like that from a 201.

Here's another shot. The end comes together like a V and at the end is a squared off U bracket that a pin goes in to hold it onto the resevered drawbar, I'm guessing.

That sounds like the front of a 184 for a Cub/140 without Fast-Hitch. Is the end that comes together a separate part or are the main rails bent together? There should be an additonal bar that vaguely resembles the substitute drawbar of a grader blade and a lift rod that resembles the ones for a cultivator.

No lift rods and nothing that look like the substitute drawbar. I guess those pieces are missing too.

Re: cub corn planter
it looks a hole lot different than a 184 to me. never seen one like that. can't tell how the drive works. after looking at the pic again it looks like the seed hopper goes on the very front and a fertilizer hopper goes behind that up a little higher and drives off one of the three sprockets there on the front. I am with Kirk on this one.
Have A Nice Day!
