Turf looks awesome! Mowing Fort Adams again.
Last fall with a seed blend recommended by Boss Hog the Advance Redoubt at Ft Adams (a whole fort by itself) was sown. Lots of effort to clear it, but it sure was worth it! Some of the Folk Festival left over hay that was used on top also sprouted, and grew pretty tall and already has seed. Good thing I sharpened the knives on the mower!
Last year:
Not to forget the other volunteers.... the Naval Supply School has helped out a lot too....
Also mowed the outer works at the fort and did some york rake work for sowing turf. The week before I did some scraping with the Armor Ditching and Scraper blade. Really needed some weight on it, but better than nothing pulling down small piles and filling holes.

Re: Turf looks awesome! Mowing Fort Adams again.
When you have a chance, could you post some pictures detailing the hook up of your flail mower ?
I would like to see the hookup to the pto, back to the right angle gear box, and also a view of the pulleys on the side.
I have a flail mower on my Cub, but the mounting brackets, and I think some of the drive may be home made.
Recently, I've broken some parts, and would like an idea of how this was done from the factory.
Thank you for preserving history !
And thank you in advance for any future pictures.

Re: Turf looks awesome! Mowing Fort Adams again.
I bet nobody can find a structure where 5 brick arches come together.... that redoubt has a couple. Also a double helix granite stairway.
Thanks for the support! I really enjoy what I do over there. What the Army Engineers did is stunningly impressive, there is not a single wall anywhere that is out of place by a fraction of an inch! Consider that the whole top of every structure is earth, but it drains well. Snaps my head that 150 years later with minimal maintenance, it's perfect.
Bonus for me is that mowing is a challenge. I gave up the first time I mowed the redoubt last year, but after I took this picture I was convinced I didn't put miles of road wear on my tires for nothing. So I tried raising the mower. It worked. (Poison ivy wrapped around the cutter bar, yikes!) Turns out that mower had a 'speed up' pulley, so the right one is on it now (anybody need a speed up pulley??)
Desoto, I sent you a PM.

Larry, could you tell us more about the fort itself and its history? I know nothing about it but am intrigued.!
I've never met a tractor I didn't like....but I have found some that were greatly annoying....

Nice job Larry, it is amazing what the Army Corp of Engineers can do. Heck they built the Cape Cod Canal and put up 3 bridges in 2 years back in early 1930's. It is amazing how stable the fort remains. Did they ever finish restoration of the Redoubt Prison, I remember bidding on that project a few years back...it kept getting put on the back burner.
