What is a "swinging drawbar anchor? And what does it do? I hate asking questions like this but I couldn't find any information about this on the search function for our site. I found this on ebay and am confused on its use and purpose.

Re: Swinging Draw Bar Anchor
Ok, thank you that does help. I am still not sure what purpose it does, and why it would be needed? Is it for extra strength? I have a good strong understanding of Cub Cadets, but I am a new-be on the Farmall Cubs...

Re: Swinging Draw Bar Anchor
If you look at the Swinging Drawbar you will see that there are 3 main components. The Anchor Bar (# 1), Swinging Drawbar (# 5) and the Drawbar (# . # 5 swings on # 8 so that the # 5 can move between both sides of the drawbar. #1 is the pivot point for the setup. Without it, no swinging drawbar.

Re: Swinging Draw Bar Anchor
here is a pic of a swinging drawbar, it is used for with a disc harrow for example so when making sharp turns the implement does not hit the tires by allowing it to swing side to side riding on the fixed drawbar

Re: Swinging Draw Bar Anchor
It "pulls" the swinging drawbar in addition to providing the pivot point. The seller describes it as good. I describe it as bent, as in "needs some straightening". If one wanted to make parts of the swinging drawbar assembly in a home shop, the part listed on eBay is the more difficult of those. The other parts are easier.

Re: Swinging Draw Bar Anchor
Bus Driver is right, it does need some straightening in the center, but could be used as is, or not too hard to straighten. On Cubs the main use was for the 23A disk harrow, it made turning easier that it gave a pivot point both at the anchor and at the harrow hitch and allowed shorter turns to be made with less strain on the equipment. On larger tractors it was pinned to the side to line up the right wheel of pull type plows in the furrow, even to move a baler to the side a little to have more room to get to the windrow.

Re: Swinging Draw Bar Anchor
When my 23A is hooked directly to the regular drawbar and making a very short turn the rear gangs will actually slide sideways the opposite way of the turn (turn left the rear gang will slide to the right in the turn).
The swinging drawbar is good for a 23A disc but not so good for backing up a trailer. You can still use it, just drop a hitch pin on each side of it to keep it from swinging.

Re: Swinging Draw Bar Anchor
A disadvantage of the swinging drawbar is that it has to be removed to use many attachments.
