My Conundrum
One of the things I enjoy doing is buying delinquent Cubs, giving them a little love, restoring some life into them, fixing any issues they have and offering them for sale to generate a little cash to put towards the next one. I usually sell them cheap, at least for this area, to sell them quickly. That way I get to play with more Cubs than I ever could afford to otherwise.
However, this last Cub, a '61 I know is going to cause a problem.
When I first went and looked this Cub I could see that it held a lot of potential. After bringing it home and giving it a good visual going over, this Cub is an extreamly low hour Cub. I can find no wear anywhere on the tractor. Even the throttle quadrant looks like new. There is no slop in the tie rods, no wear in the steering support bushing and the tires are the original U.S. Royal front and rear. The rears have 85% - 90% tread on them.
So what's wrong with that you might ask. Well this one is so nice and would make such a good keeper, I don't know if I can sell it. I have run every possible reason through my mind to logically keep it but can't come up with anything but "I want it" without any logic to back it up. I can't really afford to keep it and space in the barns is limited so the logical course would be to sell it once I get it up and running and working great.
I don't know why I'm coming to you guys for advise here. I know what you're going to tell me. Anyway, I'm just starting to work on it. This should be a fun project.

Rick, we have always said need plays no part in keeping a Cub. It looks like you have a very logical reason to keep this one around.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

All Loboys were branded as International from the time they were introduced. Regular Cubs remained as Farmalls until sometime during the 1964 production year.

I say keep it; a low hour Cub that looks as nice as this one is worth the space. You have a nice problem on your hands Rick! Good luck.

Re: My Conundrum
It looks like a keeper to me. Already set up for snow removal so you don't have to swap implements on another cub.
As suggested you could sell something else.
Do some creative rearranging.
Add on to a building or get a portable building for smaller stuff.

Re: My Conundrum
Hey there Rick, sometimes it's not about need. People seem to find a way to work things out if they want something badly enough. Sounds like you're on the edge. Like you said it is virtually a new tractor and seems to me to be a no-brainer. Time to add onto the shop!
