Has anyone had to replace the bearings in their PTO Belt Tensioner Pulley?
The tensioner pulley bearing started to knock (rattle) on startup. The noise stops after a few minutes of runtime. On the 184, this tensioner pulley is turning regardless of whether the PTO is engaged.
I pulled the pulley and removed the bearing. Of course the bearing is no longer available through the Case New Holland dealer. Used parts are available, but those probably have as many hours on them as mine does. Not really wanting to buy a used bearing.
NAPA cross referenced it to a PEER 203KRR5. The ID and the OD of the bearing match, but the old bearing has a thicker hub. (where the bolt goes through)
Some spacer engineering appears to be in my future. If I get the spacers wrong, then the belt will be misaligned. Anyone have experience with this?
Is there a better bearing to use? What is the proper spacer to get the belts to align properly?

Here is the PEER Bearing I am looking at.

FAFNIR has a bearing with similar dimensions and a wider hub, but it doesn't appear to be a sealed bearing.

Re: 184 PTO Belt Tensioner Pulley
I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure the 203 series bearings are readily available pretty much anywhere.
I think a quality name brand bearing is the way to go, ala Timken, BCA... You definitely want a double sealed bearing. ...and yes, you'll need to align it the best you can, no rocket science there, a straight edge is all you need at most and a good eye. You probably only need a spacer to match the difference between the original (oversize) bearing to the new one.outdoors4evr wrote:Is there a better bearing to use?

Re: 184 PTO Belt Tensioner Pulley
Mystery Solved. The NAPA guy fat-fingered the cross reference.
The picture shown for the product does not match what is actually delivered. The specification sheet is correct. The center (bore) is wider than the bearing outer diameter ring just like the original bearing.
The PEER 203KRR5 bearing is the correct match. It fit exactly and does not require additional spacers or shims.

Hope this is helpful to someone else in the future.
