Lots of potential there! I am partial to all Farmall cultivision tractors, that said I will never ever ever ever ever EV-er own another straight A if I can at all help it! About the only thing that will interchange (correctly) with a Super A is the paint!

Can somebody tell me why my posts keep getting deleted? Ive posted 2 separate responses in this thread only to find them again deleted. Im not doing it a third time. Is there a new moderator that doesnt like what I'm posting? This is highly frustrating to me. I kept quiet about the constant deleting in the Cub section yesterday but now here in this thread too? Somebody tell me.

I bought a sweet late '39/early 40 A that was straight but had a stuck engine. Found some stuff I didn't like and decided to part it. In the meantime, bought a Super A-1 and then a white demo Super A. The engine overhaul kits are pretty much the same, but the majority of the chassis parts--though they will bolt up--are different.
IF anybody wants the back half of an early A, I can sure fix 'em up!

Re: Farmall Barn Find!
I would not spend a lot of cash on that. It is an older A, no place for a hydraulic pump. And straight As do not fetch much money in good condition.

None of your posts in this thread were deleted by a moderator. At times when the system is running slow it does not pick up a submittal right away. When this happens some members think their post did not go through so they immediately repost, leading to double posts. You may have left the thread before it posted and therefore it may not have actually posted, leading you to think they may have been deleted. That is the only explanation I can think of. Another moderator may have a different theory.
Your two posts in the Cub Forum were moved/deleted. The first was moved because it was off topic since it dealt with an “A” and not a cub. The second was deleted since it was used as a link to this thread.
I know it sounds trivial to some, but this keeps the forums uncluttered and easier for members to find posts in the forum they are searching.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: Farmall Barn Find!
Thanks for the response. I'm not trying to stir the pot but I posted twice and saw that it had posted each time (I always submit a post, re-read and then edit for any conspicuous grammatical answers after it's been posted). I'll toss that up to the slow running system theory then.
I posted in the Cub section because I'll be using the Cub to pull it out of the barn and then pull it to Field Days of the Past (if the tires aren't dry-rotted). I will not question anyone's authority as I don't want to get black-balled from this forum. It is absolutely too valuable and the folks here are what I want to surround myself with since I deal with the dregs of society everyday (I need my dose of Mayberry when I can and this site provides that). Thanks again for the response and putting that to rest for me.
I'm at work now and can't remember too much of my other posts from earlier but I do remember asking about pouring oil into the cylinders while it sits. Are there any recommendations as to what oil and how much? I recall others in the Cub threads mentioning maybe using Rotella 15-40 diesel oil. Is this acceptable? The "A" will be sitting for awhile until I get the time to deal with the wiring. Between taking care of my 6-month baby boy during the day, working permanent midnights and volunteering on the side at the firehouse, I have a strict schedule.

Diesel fuel will only wash the cylinder walls and 15w-40 may be a bit heavy. If you just want to keep it coated 10w-30 or even ATF will do.

Re: Farmall Barn Find!
Finally got around to pulling the A out of the barn last night. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the tires had minimal rot and aired up okay. I did pay closer attention to the front end and noticed that there is no adjusting. Every other A looks like it is able to adjust so this has me puzzled. I also noticed that the tie rod ends touch the rubber on the wheels when turning (like the tires are too large. Can anybody confirm if this is somewhat the norm?

Adjustable front axle was optional. Check the tie rod arms to make sure they are not loose on the spindle.

Yeah they were a bit loose but I was looking quickly at how to fix that and couldnt immediately see. I'll have to devote more time to it.

Re: Farmall Barn Find!
Oh I forgot to ask earlier: the exhaust stack seen in the photos fell off when I bumped it. It was completely rusted through. Is the manifold weldable? I wouldnt see why not but I dont want to destroy it and be forced to buy another if I dont have to.

Re: Farmall Barn Find!
Exhaust pipe is threaded into the manifold. I would try to get what's left out (shouldn't be hard since it rusted through) and screw a new pipe in. Manifold's cast iron so you just don't grab a 6011 and go to town.
