PLEASE let us know what you decide to do!!!
I for one have been following this post to the forum with my interest. I LOVE seeing another cub owner being born.
Jocelyn, I almost guarantee you that you will fall instantly in love with the workability of that little Cub. Yes, as Rudi said, you have to be careful and smart when you work it, but you do with ALL tractors.
Someone on this forum (I think it was Mr. George Willer) said that the best safety equipment on a tractor is that which resides inside your head between your ears... YOUR BRAIN...
Good luck and POST PICTURES if you decide to buy!!

UPDATE! interesting development...
I promise that I am about to switch to the Farmall Cub topic, but here's an interesting development in my Cub-ogling. (not to be confused with Cub-googling, which I have also done )
I vaguely remembered the serial number but hadn't written it down. Then I looked at the serial number range-by-year list here and
The fellah selling it swears it was sold to him as a '53 Cub, and that he saw the bill of sale to the previous owner, who also thought it was a '53. Well, guess what the serial number is......
TA DAH # 30808
Now t'ain't no '53, is it? That's a 1948 if I'm not mistaken. The serial number plate is right where it should be and doesn't look like it was ever moved/replaced... and who would want to make it older anyway?
Now, considering the great running condition it's in, that doesn't make me NOT want to buy it... maybe that's even more cool
But this little lady sure did surprise Arthur by telling him something he didn't know about tractors! Going back this afternoon, mostly likely to give him a check.... Is there an emoticon for 'SUSPENSE BUILDING'

You are correct, that would make it a 48 cub. A possibility is that the fornt castign where the serial plate is mounted has been replaced. look at the engien serial number. that ealry in the rnage it would have been within a few hundred of the chasis serial number.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!
