Scale tractor home built
I started this project from a perfectly good old wheel horse lawn mower. I bought it at a show simply because it had a side pulley. I knew I wanted to build what looked like a scale John Deere G unstyled. I used a clutch handle off a John Deere H and a air breather off of a John Deere R pony motor. I worked off and on on it for about 12 years, mostly off. I bought a Monarch tiller and got the rear wheels and looked for a long time to find two matching front steel wheels. I bent the band around the front wheels to look like a John Deere. It is currently finished just waiting for paint. I drive it around with our son and it rides rough on gravel but not so bad in the yard. I modified a steering box off of a Cub Cadet mower. And an old tobacco planter seat my dad gave me.

As it sits now after finishing belt cover. The pulley even works with the clutch handle and stops when disengaged.

Hey, that's pretty cool. Nice to see a long-term project near completion. What kind of speed do you get out of it?

Thank you. It goes as fast as you want to ride it. It has a 3 speed with low & high so really it's a 6 speed. It will also crawl real slow you can put it in low and walk faster than it goes. That will work good for the kids to ride it through the parade in Denton, N.C. I will paint it when our son gets old enough to help, he will appreciate it more I think.

Looks good. It's always nice when a plan comes together.
